Direct-acting Concrete Pumps
Most of the concrete pumps are of direct-acting, a horizontal piston-type structure with semi-rotary valves. The process is very simple as the concrete is fed into the pump through gravity and partly by suction, created because of the reciprocating motion of the horizontally-acting piston. Meanwhile, the semi-rotary valves open and close alternatively, creating a suction pressure of the order of 0.008 N/mm2, which is constantly pumping the cylinder under favorable conditions.
The technical understanding may not be needed when you are taking concrete pumps on rent for construction. But knowledge of what you do is necessary, making you an expert.
